INVASIVE SPECIES
The total annual cost of invasive non-native species to the British economy has been estimated at £1.7 bn. Whether the release of the invasive species was intentional or unintentional many of the species have an impact on the local biodiversity. A number of legal provisions limit how invasive species, especially invasive weeds, are dealt with. Smeeden Foreman Ltd can undertake walk-over surveys to identify invasive species, subsequent to which a full report, GIS map and make recommendations on how best to treat stands of invasive species. The most common invasive species surveys which we are asked for by clients include Japanese Knotweed, Himalayan Balsam and Giant Hogweed surveys.
