Ian Birtwistle
Principal & Chartered Landscape Architect
BA (Hons) DipLA CMLI
Ian is a chartered landscape architect with a diverse range of experience acquired over a long career working in both the public and private sectors.
A visit to Liverpool Garden Festival planted a seed of a future vocation which has grown and matured through experience gained in private practice and local authorities in Lancashire, Cornwall, London, Bedford and more recently in North Yorkshire.
Ian has worked across numerous sectors of the construction industry, first cutting his teeth on the reclamation of sensitive, industrial and historic, coastal sites. This led onto: a buoyant period of public funding for youth and community projects; several years working on high quality residential garden schemes in central London; a role as a clerk of works inspecting re-instatement works on a new forty five mile National Grid powerline; and more recently on award winning retail, health and retirement living projects.
Ian complements his love of landscape and design with a passion for photography, having won a number of national and regional competitions and images exhibited in regional civic galleries.
