An Ecological Impact Assessment (EcIA) may be carried out as part of a formal Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) or to support other forms of environmental assessment or appraisal. The impact of the proposed development upon each receptor identified within/adjacent to the site (i.e. individual protected species, habitat type, etc.) would then be considered, to inform the design of mitigation and in turn the residual impact of the development.
