BSc (Honours) MCIEEM
Katie joined Smeeden Foreman in 2008. Since joining the practice her experience has been gained in undertaking habitat surveys, including detailed botanical surveys of specific habitats and protected species surveys for great crested newts (class 1 licence holder), bats (class 1 licence holder), badger, water vole, otter, fresh water pearl mussel and reptiles.
Katie has been involved with securing European Protected Species Mitigation licences for proposed development schemes anticipated to impact upon great crested newts. This involves the exclusion of newts from a development site prior to works and the sympathetic design of receptor habitats to maintain the favourable conservation status of this species. In 2016 Katie qualified as a Great Crested Newt Low Impact Licence Registered Consultant.
While at Smeeden Foreman Katie has worked on a wide range of projects including habitat surveys and habitat creation schemes (including wildflower, wet meadow, wetland and native tree/shrub planting), road and housing schemes, business park/office development, open cast coal and gravel extraction.
