Jess Eyre

Senior Ecologist

BSc (Hons) MSc

Jess initially joined Smeeden Foreman as an ecological assistant in 2010 before joining as a full time Ecologist for maternity cover in 2013. In early 2015 she returned to Smeeden Foreman as a Senior Ecologist.

Within her role she specialises in bats, and has a sound knowledge of legislation and planning policy for UK bat species. She successfully leads our bat work, undertaking building assessments and presence/absence surveys to establish site usage by bats. In addition to this, Jess has a City and Guilds Tree Climbing and Aerial Rescue certificate, which she regularly uses to aerially assess trees for potential bat roosts.

Jess has obtained numerous European Protected Species Mitigation (EPSM) licences from Natural England for proposed development schemes which would impact on bats if mitigation were not in place. For these licences she has designed and implemented mitigation schemes for a range of bat species and roost types, carried out on site tool-box-talks, supervised works under licence, and managed follow up monitoring surveys.
