Most, if not all, planning applications will need to include an assessment of the potential ecological effects of the development. A Preliminary Ecological Appraisal provides an initial assessment of a proposed development site in terms of its habitats and the potential to support protected species. This preliminary assessment goes on to inform any additional surveys which may be required. This survey can be undertaken at any time throughout the year, although timing constraints may apply for any additional survey work recommended.
