Chartered Landscape Architect
Catherine has been with Smeeden Foreman since 1997. Although based in the ecology team she has experience of working in both the landscape and ecological fields. This broader experience brings a wider understanding of the potential environmental issues of a project and facilitates the co-ordination of landscape and ecological inputs to our multi-disciplinary schemes.
She is experienced in undertaking initial site assessment (extended phase 1 habitat surveys) to identify potential features of ecological importance and the requirements for further specific species surveys, providing appropriate mitigation recommendations to avoid or minimise ecological impacts and proposing potential habitat creation measures to enhance site biodiversity.
Reports have been prepared to support planning applications, Environmental Impact Assessment, Habitat Regulations Assessment and BREEAM.
Holding survey licences for great crested newt (Class 1) and bats (Class 2) Catherine has assisted with securing European Protected Species Mitigation licences for proposed development schemes with respect to both species and compiled Method Statements to avoid works impacting on badger and water vole.
